Between main missions, side activities, and swing challenges, the order you tackle content in changes your playthrough’s pace a lot.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 offers a lot of side content that can quickly feel overwhelming if you try to do it all alongside the main story. Here’s the smoothest approach.

Advance the main story in blocks, not continuously

The game naturally unlocks new areas and gadgets as the story progresses — running through three or four main missions before returning to free-roam prevents the game from feeling stagnant.

Save Mach speed race challenges for last

These challenges demand full mastery of the improved swing system; attempting them too early mostly leads to unnecessary frustration before all movement abilities are unlocked.

In practice

  • Unlock both symbiote suits before diving into the end-game
  • Clear faction hideouts by zone rather than jumping between districts
  • Save Mach speed challenges for after finishing the main story
  • Use the map to group collectibles by district

Verdict

Tackling content in blocks, rather than rushing or going for 100% immediately, makes the experience noticeably more enjoyable.
