Which PC can run local AI and still game properly?
Three builds tested, from $1,000 to $3,000, with the real trade-offs between VRAM, inference speed and framerate.

The question keeps coming back: can you run a language model locally and game on the same machine? Yes — but the trade-off is not where most people expect.
VRAM decides everything
For gaming, 12 GB is plenty at 1440p. For local inference it is the binding constraint: a 14B model quantised to 4 bits already needs roughly 9 GB.
Verdict
The sweet spot sits at 16 GB of VRAM. Below that you choose between gaming and running a decent model. Above it, the premium only pays off if you actually train.
