Grinding Gear Games warned everyone: Path of Exile 2 wasn’t going to be a simple expansion, but a full rebuild of the game’s pacing. That promise holds up — for better and worse, depending on who you ask.

Combat is slower, and easier to read

Fights slow down noticeably compared to the first game, with clearer boss patterns and dodge windows — a real win for newcomers, less so for veterans who came for the frantic clickspam pace.

The skill tree is still intimidating

The new dual-socket skill gem system adds real depth, but the learning curve stays steep for anyone without hundreds of hours already logged in the first Path of Exile.

Verdict

An ambitious ARPG that rewards patience, but one that clearly asks you to leave your first-game reflexes at the door.
