After a 50-day delay, Phantom Blade Zero, Chinese studio S-Game’s dark wuxia action RPG, launches on October 29, 2026, on PS5 and PC. An estimated 300,000-plus pre-orders have already pushed the game to the top of Steam’s best-seller chart before it’s even out. Its launch comes a week after Final Fantasy Resonance, in an unusually packed October 2026 for RPG fans.
A dark wuxia story built around Soul
S-Game built Phantom Blade Zero around Soul, a hero navigating a dark wuxia world. The game blends action RPG and hack-and-slash combat, with a combat system that has been the centerpiece of every trailer since the game was first revealed, in the same vein as Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
A delay, but no apparent drama
Originally announced for a September 9, 2026 release at The Game Awards 2025, the game was ultimately pushed back to October 29 — a 50-day delay S-Game says it used to polish visual quality and the overall player experience rather than add new content. Steam’s store page sometimes shows October 28, a regional unlock-time discrepancy rather than a new delay. That kind of slip is common for big Asian action productions: Crimson Desert also went through several delays before locking in its own date.
PS5 and PC only, for now
Phantom Blade Zero launches on PS5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). No Xbox version has been confirmed by S-Game; rumors point to a later release, but nothing is official yet. The game comes in a Standard Edition at $59.99 and a Digital Deluxe Edition at $69.99, with slight regional price variations on PS5.
Over 300,000 pre-orders, ~135GB on disk
The game is estimated to have topped 300,000 pre-orders on Steam, according to third-party tracking (S-Game hasn’t shared official numbers) — enough to push it to the top of the platform’s best-sellers list before release. On the technical side, expect roughly 134.857 GB of free disk space; preloading opens starting October 27, 2026.
No review yet, just anticipation
Since the game hasn’t launched yet, no critic score exists as of this writing.
Our take
The commercial buzz looks real: an estimated 300,000-plus pre-orders and a #1 spot on Steam’s best-sellers before launch point to strong demand. But until critics get hands-on with the full game, caution is warranted on the final result. See you on October 29.
